Hands up if you've never used a BIC pen in your life? No one... didn't think so.

BIC are currently running a small experiment to 'create' a universal typeface based on as much handwritten letters as they can collect. Using one of those fancy alogorithms an average is calculated from all the handwritten letters to arrive at the 'final' forms.

Broken into two main sections you can either contribute your own letters. Or Explore the letterforms already created by looking at different age groups, gender, country, handiness and industry. All in all a really interesting exercise in crowd sourcing.

I'm not sure what they plan to do with the finished result, but I'm keen to find out.
