The Melbourne full-time students were lucky enought to have, Kai Brach, the Publisher/Editor/Designer of the beautiful Offscreen Magazine come in to class today to talk a little bit about what he does.

For those of you out of the loop, Offscreen is a magazine about "the people behind bits and pixels". Kai, used to the ephemeral nature of the digital world, started the magazine as a way to create something more tangible & lasting - a sense of legacy. Yet the mag is still tied to his passion for the digital realm and the amazing people that populate it.

I've been a big fan since issue one. In fact its the only thing I read in print anymore, everything else is digital for me from novels, to newspapers & everything inbetween. This is one of the key concepts driving Offscreen, that of turning away from our many and varied screens for a moment and taking some time in the 'old fashioned' pursuit of reading a real life printed magazine.

And a beautiful piece of print it is all uncoated stock, lush photography and clean crisp design & typography.

So what's in the magazine I hear you ask? In the mag you'll find stories about creators, inventors, entrepreneurs & designers who all operate in the digital sphere. A small snapshot into the lives of these talented and creative people, what makes them tick and how they've achieved their sucesses.

What I get out of it is the desire to go out there and make something. So take the plunge and grab yourself a copy, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks Kai for your inspiring words!
