Everybody has to start somewhere… so my first lecture as a Shillington College teacher was to inspire the new Full Time students to go out and discover studios & designers who might inspire them to produce their own exciting and thought provoking work over the next 3 months.

Where better to start, but to introduce to them a studio whom I discovered back in 2000, when the world of graphic design was just beginning to compete for my own attention (sorry BSC Psychology – you just weren't doing it for me). It was the typography produced by Büro Destruct (Bern, Switzerland) for Radiohead's LP, Kid A – that got my designer-y juices flowing. Their motto "Small City – Big Design" resonates throughout their catalogue of work: exciting experimental approaches bursting out of their studio walls, sprawling across the globe with a cheeky smile on it's face.

Playful illustrations & a huge catalogue of display typefaces (many of them free to download at www.typedifferent.com) make up a huge percentage of their output, which they continue to produce with as much enthusiasm and passion as they always have shown.
