Tanya, Maz, Anthony, Enza, myself and a few Shillington students past and present joined typographers Wayne Thompson and Gemma O'Brien at a Type By Hand Workshop in Sydney at the weekend.

With around 40 other type enthusiasts we learnt some common school boy errors about typography (bad habits that most of us picked-up at primary school) and took part in a series of drawing exercises designed to improve our understanding of character anatomy and interaction. Finally we were treated to seeing Wayne and Gemma construct two beautiful words ('Superfluous' and 'Pharmakon') in under 10 minutes. Very inspiring and highly recommended.

These workshops have also taken place in Melbourne and Shillington is currently in discussions with Wayne about hosting a workshop at the Brisbane college so watch this space.
