A Guide to...The History of Perfume – Oxford St Design Store – 23rd May – 7pm – Free!
Just a single whiff of a perfume can evoke a distinct memory. Imagined or real, a scent creates a mood that we want to capture again and again, which explains our attachment to a favourite cologne or perfume.
Oxford St Design Store is pleased to host perfume expert Clayton Ilolahia in the first instalment of our “A Guide To…” talk series, where we invite people to wax lyrical about their obsessions.
For Clayton (blogger from whatmenshouldsmelllike.com), it’s about creating the perfect, enduring scent and his talk will focus on the most famous perfume of all – Chanel No. 5. Aldehyde, rose, jasmine, ylang ylang and vanilla are just some of the notes that make up this classic scent.
Clayton will pass around samples of the singular notes and Chanel No. 5 as he talks us through the mysterious alchemy behind perfume construction and the fascinating history behind the iconic perfume. This talk is sure to engage all of your senses.
The 30-minute session will be followed by a Q&A from the audience. Refreshments will be provided.
