We kind of love Jessica Hische here (as you may have gathered from previous posts). Yesterday she put up a new article on the topic of Inspiration v Imitation and it has some really sound advice for art/design students and those who are just starting out in the industry.
At Shillington we always want our students to push their concepts and always come up with something original but we understand it isn't always easy - especially when you're just starting out. However, what's even more difficult is explaining to a potential employer, or even the original artist/designer, that you've actually stolen someone elses work (although it can often be without actually realising) and passed it off as your own.
Have a read and take heed of Jessica's advice. It really is gold!
